Dr. Nayana Nair

Research Fellow

Dr. Nayana Nair is an interdisciplinary researcher with a PhD in International Relations and Library and Information Science from Mahatma Gandhi University. Her doctoral research, titled “Big Data in International Relations: A Study of Indo-US Twitter Diplomacy (2016–2020),” examined the intersection of social media, data analytics, and diplomatic practices. An alumna of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), she earned her Master’s degree in Library and Information Science with a Gold Medal and holds a Bachelor's degree in English (Honours) from the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU). She is also a UGC-JRF awardee. Her professional engagements include work with the Central University of Kerala, P.N. Panicker Foundation, and IIT Gandhinagar, where she contributed to projects on digital libraries, innovation, and the history of mathematics. Her research interests include big data, social media diplomacy, digitization, manuscript preservation, and metadata. Through her publications and interdisciplinary work, she bridges technology, information science, and global relations.

Dr. Rugmini Devi M

Research Fellow

Dr. Rugmini Devi M serves as a Fellow at the Science Policy Institute, University of Kerala. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Kerala and was an ICSSR Doctoral Fellow at the Department of Political Science. She also serves as a CLAS Exchange Fellow at the University of Brasília, Brazil. Her research explores the relationship between bilateral relations and firm-level technology transfer, focusing on the political and policy dimensions of international technology transfer to the Global South, particularly India and Brazil. Her work highlights the importance of international cooperation in technology diffusion, especially in socially relevant sectors. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and a Master's degree in Political Science from the University of Kerala. Her publications span innovation studies, political economy of technology, and development studies. She also serves as Assistant Editor of the Journal of Polity and Society and has contributed to research in development studies, migration studies, gender studies, and sustainable development.
